Competency portfolio
My 5 competencies
The BUT in Networks & Telecommunications (cybersecurity track) assesses 5 competencies. For each one, I document four parts: Context (why, what, where, when, how), Actions & evidence (SAÉ, projects, traces), Reflection (difficulties overcome, ideas put into practice, rules & stakeholders respected) and Takeaways (transferable know-how).
SAÉ stands for Situation d'Apprentissage et d'Évaluation: a hands-on project, close to a real professional brief, that is assessed as part of the degree.
Administering networks and the Internet
Design, install, administer and troubleshoot networks and services (DHCP, DNS, VPN, QoS).
Connecting businesses and users
Measure/analyse signals, deploy access networks (xDSL, VPN, VoIP, wireless) and interconnect sites.
Creating IT tools and applications (Programming)
Build web/mobile apps, automation scripts and client/server programs — securely (authentication, encryption, input validation).
Administering a secure information system
Deploy defence in depth: firewalls, VPN, VLAN segmentation, OS hardening, cryptography.
Monitoring a secure information system
Monitor (SIEM, logs, alerts), analyse/correlate, run penetration tests and handle incidents.
